3 truck driver errors that could have caused your crash

On Behalf of | Dec 8, 2022 | Personal Injury |

If you are injured in a truck crash, there is a good chance you don’t remember what happened. One minute you were driving along, then all you remember is waking up to the voices of an ambulance crew.

To claim compensation for your injuries, you will need to work out what happened. If you are sure you didn’t do anything wrong, then it’s reasonable to assume the driver of the truck that hit you did. However, determining what that was may be challenging.

Here are some of the errors truck drivers make:

Using the phone

A phone allows truckers to keep in touch with their family and touch base with employers or clients. However, that does not justify using the phone while driving. They are very distracting, even if used through a hands-free set. The only safe option is to pull over and stop before making or answering a call.

Using drugs or alcohol

Some drivers use drugs or alcohol to kill the boredom of lonely nights on the road. A trucker who has a heavy night will face problems with their employer if they do not get up and drive on schedule. Therefore, they may be tempted to drive when they are still hungover.

Driving too fast

Drivers must stay within the speed limit. However, sometimes even the official speed limit is too fast for the conditions. Driving responsibly means adapting to the conditions.

If you have been injured in a truck crash, seek legal help to understand what the driver might have done wrong and hold them responsible.
