April Matos Earns Board Certification as a Paralegal in Civil Trial

The JHS team is proud to announce that April Matos has received Board Certification as a Paralegal in Civil Trial, earning induction into the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS). April is the only paralegal within McLennan County and the surrounding counties of: Bosque, Hill, Limestone, Navarro, Falls, Coryell, and Hamilton who currently holds paralegal certification with the TBLS. In fact, of the approximately 21,000 paralegals and legal assistants working in Texas, fewer than 500 are Board Certified by the TBLS.

For paralegals, Board Certification is a voluntary designation program certifying them in seven specific areas of law. Board Certified paralegals must attend continuing education seminars, pass an evaluation by fellow paralegals and judges and pass a four-hour written examination. To remain certified, paralegals must apply for recertification every five years.
